Huawei Honor 8 with dual rear camera is set for its India launch, and is the successor to the company's Honor 7 phone launched last year

Huawei is all set to launch its Honor 8 smartphone in India today, October 12. The highlight of the Honor 8 will be its dual rear-camera setup similar to that of the company’s flagship – P9, but minus the Leica optics. The phone is a successor to Huawei’s Honor 7 that was launched in October last year. Honor 8 was launched in China back in July with price starting at 1999 Yuan (approx Rs 20,060).

Huawei Honor 8 comes with a 5.2-inch Full HD display (1080 x 1920 pixels resolution), and is powered by the company’s octa-core HiSilicon Kirin 950 processor coupled with a Mali-T880 MP4 GPU. The phone is expected to come with 3GB/4GB RAM with 32GB/64GB storage respectively (expandable to 256GB). The phone will be running Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

The dual SIM phone will be running Android 6.0 Marshmallow running Huawei’s EMUI 4.1 skin on top. Honor 8 features a dual 12MP rear camera setup (f/2.2 aperture) that comes with laser autofocus and dual-LED flash, and also has features like geo-tagging, touch focus, HDR and panorama. The selfie shooter on the phone is an 8MP with a f/2.4 aperture.

Honor 8 is backed by a 3000 mAh non-removable Li-Po battery, and weighs 153 gms. The phone sports a USB Type-C 1.0 reversible connector and can charge to 47 per cent in 30 minutes using Smart Power 4.0. The phone is fitted with sensors like a fingerprint scanner, gyros, proximity sensors, compass and accelerometers.

The phone was launched in five colour variants – Midnight Black, Gold, Pearl White and Sapphire Blue. When the phone was launched in China, the 3GB RAM variant version with 32GB storage was priced at 1,999 Yuan (approx Rs 20,060) while the 4GB RAM variant with 64GB storage was priced at 2,499 Yuan (approx Rs 25,078).
